"Opening Italiaserv®.com not only informs the customer, but transforms her into the beauty and culture of the real Italy,” says Colella, of Chicago, Illinois. She moved to Southern California a few years ago with her native born Italian husband, Antonio, and two children. “I have watched the Chicago, LA and Italian markets and found that these are unique women: aspirational and plugged in.”

“When Antonio returned from a development trip abroad with a dozen pair of Italian designer shoes and handbags, I was amazed at how many compliments I received. I wanted to share with all my friends. Italian made quality without the price of high retail. We offer customers uniquely designed, fashion forward and comfortable products selected directly from Italian factories.”

Barbara identified a void in the market, took a risk, and now focuses on superior styles that emphasize quality design.

After 20 years in marketing and communications, she is widely recognized as an expert in cross cultural communication and conference planning. In 1995, she was honored with the David Award for promoting excellence in international business. She has held senior management positions with several international firms.

In 1991, she met and married her husband and moved to Italy; a trip that returned her to paternal roots in Southern Italy. She was inspired by the beautiful landscapes and warm nature of the people.

Her bilingual ability allowed her to access avenues unturned, “As an American living in Italy for 3 years, I was able to research and focus on market trends. It takes about a year before Italian generated trends begin to burst in USA”, says Colella. “The American consumer travels abroad more and more only to realize they are strapped to search for the same quality and style they see while in Italy.”


After living in Italy for almost 3 years, she is keen to the market trends.

US brands tend to be mass produced in a conservative manner and women are sacrificing their fashion. “It is all about design. Italian designed heels, for example, give shape to the calf without putting pressure on the ball of the foot.”

Italian designed bags, handbags and even jewelry have the unique quality and look that women truly desire.  We offer consumers comfort, fashion and quality at least a year before most American brands.

“During the introduction phase of a new design, my clients are almost a little shy to react to the different look and colors, but when they warm up to the features, details and colors, it is like a jump into the future!” explains Colella.
